Yuan Tan is Yuan Shao's eldest son and governor of Qing Province. After his father chooses Yuan Shang as heir, he is enraged but requires assistance once Cao Cao attacks. Yuan Tan eventually grows weary of his brother's leadership and requests a surrender to Cao Cao, but is refused and is eventually killed by Cao Hong.
